Deskthaw is run by Anton, a sole proprietor in Massachusetts, United States. This page says what the website collects, who touches it, and how to get it removed. Questions go to [email protected].
What the website collects
When you join the waitlist or reserve a copy, the form sends:
- your email address;
- which form you used (waitlist or reserve);
- whether you ticked "I'd buy this for my team" and the team size you typed, if any;
- the pain areas you picked, if any;
- your browser's platform string (for example "MacIntel") and the page's referrer or campaign tag, so we know which channels bring people in.
That record is stored in Cloudflare Workers KV, a key-value store on Cloudflare's network. It is used to send you the confirmation email, the two-question email if you ticked the team box, and launch and progress updates. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
Bot check and analytics
The forms run Cloudflare Turnstile, a bot check that replaces a captcha. Turnstile is provided by Cloudflare under its own privacy policy. The site may use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookies and does not fingerprint visitors. Deskthaw sets no cookies of its own and runs no advertising trackers.
Emails are sent from [email protected] through Resend, an email delivery service. Replies to the team two-question email are collected in an inbox on AgentMail, so they can be tallied. Replies to any other email reach Anton directly.
Payments
Preorders are sold through Link, Stripe's merchant-of-record service. Stripe handles the checkout page, card details, receipts, sales tax and refunds, under Stripe's and Link's privacy policies. Deskthaw never sees your card number. Deskthaw receives your email address, the payment status and a Stripe reference for the order, and stores those next to your waitlist record.
The app
Deskthaw the Mac app is not released yet. It is designed to run entirely on your Mac: no account, no usage tracking, and nothing that phones home. If that changes before launch, this page is updated first.
Retention
Waitlist records are kept until Deskthaw ships and for twelve months after, then deleted. Unsubscribing stops all emails at once. Preorder records are kept for as long as the purchase and refund window require, and for tax records as the law demands.
Your rights
Email [email protected] to see what is stored about you, correct it, or have it deleted. Deletion is done within a week. Deskthaw does not sell or share personal data with anyone except the services named above, which act on Deskthaw's behalf. The site is not directed at children under sixteen.
Changes
Changes to this page carry a new date at the top. Material changes to what is collected are announced by email to the waitlist before they take effect.
